A record kept in public, by the people it describes

Small towns are usually documented from the outside, briefly, and then forgotten. This portal takes the opposite approach: it starts with what residents already know, writes it down carefully, names the source, and marks clearly how confident we are.

The catalogue covers three concentric areas — the town core, its hinterland of plantations, rivers and hills, and the wider regional corridor that Yong Peng has always been part of. Records are published in English, with Bahasa Melayu and Chinese structure in place and translation added progressively.

How verification works

Every record carries one of five states: verified, community verified, provisional, contested, or student research. Provisional is not a failure — it is an honest label that invites someone who knows more to come forward.
